Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yogurt and activated yeast mixture. Mix well and knead to form a soft dough. Add olive oil while kneading.

  3. 3

    Let it Rise

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Preheat the Tandoor or Oven

If using a tandoor, preheat it. If using an oven, preheat to 500°F (260°C).

  5. 5

    Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval or circle shape.

  6. 6

    Bake the Naan

Place the naan on the tandoor wall or on a baking sheet if using an oven. Bake for 2-3 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.

  7. 7

    Brush with Ghee

Remove the naan from the tandoor or oven and brush with ghee or melted butter before serving.
