Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix chopped cashews, raisins, ground cardamom, and sugar. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Shape the Naan

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a flat circle, place a spoonful of the filling in the center, and fold the edges over to seal.

  4. 4

    Cook the Naan

Preheat a skillet or tandoor. Roll out each stuffed dough ball gently into an oval shape. Cook on the hot skillet or tandoor until bubbles form and the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from heat and brush with butter. Serve hot.
