Ahi Tataki

Soy Mustard Sauce

Method

Prepare Ahi Tataki

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Pat the Ahi tuna dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

In a pan over high heat, add sesame oil. Once hot, sear the tuna for about 30 seconds on each side until a crust forms but the center remains rare. Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute.

  3. 3

    Slice the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, slice the seared tuna into thin slices and arrange them on a serving platter.

Prepare Soy Mustard Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together Dijon mustard, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until smooth.

Serve

  1. 5

    Plate and Serve

Drizzle the soy mustard sauce over the sliced Ahi tataki and garnish with black sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve immediately.
