Oatmeal Blondie

Miso-Caramel Sauce

Method

Making the Oatmeal Blondie

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or oven-safe pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared skillet and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Making the Miso-Caramel Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the Sugar

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns a deep amber color, swirling the pan occasionally. Be careful not to burn it.

  2. 7

    Add Cream and Miso

Once the sugar is melted, carefully add the heavy cream and stir until combined. Then, add the miso and butter, stirring until smooth.

Serving

  1. 8

    Assemble the Dessert

Cut the warm blondie into squares, drizzle with miso-caramel sauce, and top with Bubu Arare and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
