Kalua Pork

Furikake Rice

Method

Kalua Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with liquid smoke and sea salt. Wrap in banana leaves (if using) and place in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-10 hours until tender.

Jumbo Garlic Shrimp Preparation

  1. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add shrimp, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Cook until shrimp is pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.

Furikake Rice Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Rice

Rinse rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine rice and water in a rice cooker or pot. Cook according to rice cooker instructions or bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes. Once cooked, fluff with a fork and stir in furikake seasoning and sesame oil.

Choy Sum Namul Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Choy Sum

Blanch choy sum in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until bright green. Drain and rinse under cold water. In a bowl, combine choy sum, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt to taste. Toss to combine.
