For the Soufflé

Prepare the Chocolate Mixture
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a double boiler or microwave. Stir until smooth.

Whisk the Egg Yolks
In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and half of the granulated sugar until pale and thick. Add the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract, mixing well.

Combine Mixtures
Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture in three additions. Sift the flour over the mixture and fold in gently until just combined.

Bake
Pour the soufflé mixture into greased ramekins and bake for 12-15 minutes until puffed and set but still soft in the center.

Cook the Mixture
Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Churn the Ice Cream
Churn the chilled mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. Transfer to a container and freeze until firm.
