For the Ahi Cakes

Method

Prepare the Ahi Cakes

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the diced Ahi tuna, panko breadcrumbs, green onions, beaten egg, mayonnaise, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Cakes

Form the mixture into small patties or cakes, about 2-3 inches in diameter.

  3. 3

    Chill the Cakes

Place the formed cakes on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Cook the Ahi Cakes

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat enough vegetable oil over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan.

  2. 5

    Fry the Cakes

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chilled Ahi cakes to the skillet. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 6

    Drain

Remove the cakes from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Prepare the Dipping Sauce

  1. 7

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, wasabi paste, honey, and sesame oil until smooth.
