Oregano Fry Bread

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and dried oregano. Mix well to combine.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while mixing until a soft, pliable dough forms. You may need to adjust the amount of water slightly.

  3. 3

    Knead and Rest

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep skillet or pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  5. 5

    Shape and Fry

Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Flatten each ball into a disc about 1/4 inch thick. Carefully place the discs into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
