Mussels Diabla Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any dirt or sand. Remove the beards if necessary.

  2. 2

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped shallots, sautéing until translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Spices

Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and cook for an additional minute to release the flavors.

  4. 4

    Deglaze with Wine

Pour in the dry white wine and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the pot to release any stuck bits. Allow to reduce for about 3-4 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Mussels

Add the canned diced tomatoes along with their juices, and then add the cleaned mussels. Cover the pot and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.

  6. 6

    Finish the Broth

Once the mussels are cooked, stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the mussels in bowls with the broth, garnished with lemon wedges for squeezing over the top.
