For the Chocolate Torte

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture, mixing until well combined.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Dry Ingredients

Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold them gently into the chocolate mixture until just combined.

  4. 4

    Bake the Torte

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Pour the batter into a greased and lined 8-inch round cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly moist.

  5. 5

    Cool and Serve

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve with lemon curd and a sprinkle of granola on top.
