Tuna Tartare

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the sushi grade tuna into small, uniform cubes (about 1/2 inch). Place the cubed tuna in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out with a spoon. Cut the avocado into small cubes (similar in size to the tuna) and add it to the bowl with the tuna.

  3. 3

    Make the Dressing

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, salt, and black pepper to taste until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the dressing over the tuna and avocado mixture. Gently stir to combine, being careful not to mash the avocado.

  5. 5

Add Sesame Seeds and Green Onions

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the mixture. Thinly slice the green onions and add them to the bowl. Stir gently again to incorporate.

  6. 6

    Serve

Spoon the tuna tartare mixture onto plates or serve in small bowls. Optionally, garnish with additional sesame seeds or green onions.
