Method

Sushi Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse 2 cups of sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook in a rice cooker or pot with 2.5 cups of water. Once cooked, let it sit for 10 minutes, then season with a mixture of 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix gently and allow to cool.

  2. 2

    Cut Fish and Vegetables

Slice the fresh salmon and tuna into thin strips. Cut the avocado and cucumber into long, thin slices.

  3. 3

    Assemble Sushi

Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo mat, spread a thin layer of sushi rice (about 1/4 cup) on the nori, leaving about an inch at the top. Place fish and vegetable strips in the center, roll tightly, and slice into bite-sized pieces. Repeat for a total of 10 pieces.

Hand Roll Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare Hand Roll

For the hand roll, take 1 cup of sushi rice and place it on a nori sheet. Add 100 grams of cooked shrimp and drizzle with spicy mayo. Roll the nori into a cone shape, sealing the edge with a little water.

Soup Preparation

  1. 5

    Make Miso Soup

In a pot, bring 4 cups of dashi stock to a simmer. Whisk in 3 tablespoons of miso paste until dissolved. Add diced tofu and sliced green onions, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes before serving.
