Method

Hummus Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt. Blend until smooth.

  3. 3

    Adjust Consistency

While blending, slowly add water, one tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired consistency. It should be creamy and spreadable.

Garnishing

  1. 4

    Prepare the Garnish

Finely chop the cucumber and fresh mint leaves. Dice the preserved lemon into small pieces.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Hummus

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl. Top with chopped cucumber, mint leaves, and diced preserved lemon.

  3. 6

    Sprinkle with Za'atar

Sprinkle the za'atar evenly over the top of the hummus for added flavor.

  4. 7

    Serve with Grilled Naan

Serve the hummus with warm grilled naan on the side for dipping.
