Method

Preparing the Cake

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the bittersweet chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously until fully incorporated.

  4. 4

    Prepare Ramekins

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.

  5. 5

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still soft.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the cakes to cool for 1 minute before inverting them onto plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
