Directions

1

Prepare the Apples

Wash the fresh apples under running water to remove any dirt or pesticide residues. Remove the stems and cut the apples into quarters. No need to peel or core them, as the skins add flavor and nutrients to the juice.

2

Cook the Apples

In a large pot, combine the quartered apples and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the apples are soft and mushy.

3

Mash the Apples

After the apples have softened, use a potato masher or a wooden spoon to mash them down, breaking them up as much as possible. This will help release more juice.

4

Strain the Mixture

Set a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the mashed apple mixture into the strainer and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes. Use a spoon to press down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.

5

Sweeten the Juice

Once the juice is collected, taste it. If you prefer sweeter juice, add sugar and stir until it's dissolved. You can also add lemon juice for a bit of acidity and cinnamon for a warm flavor, if desired.

6

Serve

Pour the freshly made apple juice into glasses. Serve chilled or over ice. Enjoy your homemade apple juice!
