Hamburger Steak

Brown Gravy with Mushrooms and Onions

Method

Prepare Hamburger Steaks

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape Patties

Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

  3. 3

    Cook Patties

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the hamburger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Make Brown Gravy

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Mushrooms

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the mushrooms are browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Broth and Sauces

Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Thicken Gravy

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Slowly add this mixture to the simmering gravy, stirring until thickened (about 2-3 minutes). Season with salt and black pepper.

  4. 7

    Combine and Serve

Return the cooked hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the patties. Allow to simmer for an additional 2 minutes before serving.
