Fried Shrimp

Method

Fried Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Rinse the peeled and deveined shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  3. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, then coat it in the cornstarch mixture. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet, add vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Cocktail Sauce

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using).

  2. 7

    Adjust to Taste

Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasoning by adding more horseradish or hot sauce if desired.

  3. 8

    Serve

Transfer the cocktail sauce to a serving dish and serve alongside the fried shrimp.
