For the Tiramisu
Method
Preparation of Tiramisu
- 1
Brew the Espresso
Prepare 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, stir in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur.
- 2
Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a medium bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 100 grams of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
- 3
Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 500 grams of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie (24 pieces) into the cooled espresso coffee, making sure not to soak them.
- 5
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, place a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 6
Repeat the Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers on top of the mascarpone layer, then finish with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 7
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 8
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Cut into squares and enjoy your homemade Tiramisu!
