Main Ingredients

Optional Marinade

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the steak and pat it dry with paper towels. This helps to achieve a good sear. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Optional Marinade

If you would like to use a marinade, combine garlic powder, rosemary, and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl. Coat the steak with the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

Heat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to heat until shimmering.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the steak in the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Adjust the time based on your preferred doneness: less time for rare, more time for medium or well-done.

  3. 5

    Let it Rest

After cooking, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute in the meat.

  4. 6

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately, enjoying it with your favorite sides.
