Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

Cook Spaghetti
Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain and Oil
Drain the spaghetti in a colander and return it to the pot. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and toss to coat.
Making Bolognese Sauce

Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat a splash of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Cook Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Wine
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Mix well.

Season the Sauce
Add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve the Bolognese sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
