Fried Pickles

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk until combined.

  3. 3

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the egg mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture until fully coated. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the coated pickles to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
