Mojito Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint and Lime

In a sturdy glass, place the fresh mint leaves and cut the lime into quarters. Add the lime quarters to the glass. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the mint and lime to release their juices and oils. Be careful not to shred the mint leaves too much; you want to release the flavor without tearing them apart.

  2. 2

    Add Sugar

Sprinkle the sugar over the muddled mint and lime. Use the muddler again to mix the sugar in with the mint and lime juice until the sugar is mostly dissolved. This will create a sweet and aromatic base for your mojito.

  3. 3

Pour in Pineapple Juice and Rum

Add the pineapple juice and white rum to the glass. Stir gently with a spoon to combine all the ingredients together.

  4. 4

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes, packing them in to keep the drink cold.

  5. 5

    Top with Club Soda

Pour the club soda over the ice and mojito mixture, filling the glass to the top. Give it a gentle stir to mix everything together without losing too much fizz.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lime on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately with a straw.
