Burger Components

Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 3

    Melt the Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place 1/2 cup of pepper jack cheese on each patty to melt. Cover the skillet or grill if necessary to help the cheese melt.

  4. 4

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the jalapeños and set aside. Also, gather the pickle chips.

Fried Onions Preparation

  1. 5

    Slice the Onion

Carefully slice the onion into thin rings and set aside.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Coating

In a bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 8

    Fry the Onions

Coat the onion rings in the flour mixture and then carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 9

    Toast the Buns

Slice the sesame seed brioche buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 10

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a beef patty with melted cheese, followed by fried onions, sliced jalapeños, and pickle chips. Top with the other half of the bun.
