Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Dice the Tomatoes

Wash and dice the tomatoes into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and mince the garlic cloves. Add them to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Basil

Rinse the basil leaves, pat dry, and chop them finely. Add to the tomato and garlic mixture.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Add balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix everything together gently and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Grilling the Bread

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the French baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Heat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium heat. Alternatively, you can use a grill pan on the stovetop.

  3. 7

    Brush with Olive Oil

Brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil.

  4. 8

    Grill the Bread

Place the bread slices, oiled side down, on the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes or until grill marks appear and the bread is toasted. Flip and grill the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Assembling the Bruschetta

  1. 9

    Top the Bread

Remove the grilled bread from the grill and place it on a serving platter. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto the grilled side of each slice.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm.
