Method
Burger Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Beef Patty
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- 2
Shape the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties that are slightly larger than the bread slices, as they will shrink while cooking.
- 3
- 4
Melt the Cheese
Flip the patties and place a slice of Swiss cheese on one patty and a slice of Cheddar cheese on the other. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.
- 5
Rest the Patties
Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for a minute while you prepare the bread.
Dressing Preparation
- 6
Mix the Dressing
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 7
Season the Dressing
Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper to taste.
Assembly
- 8
Butter the Bread
Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
