Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash the Broccoli

Rinse the broccoli under cold running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.

  2. 2

    Cut the Broccoli

Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets, leaving a small amount of the stem attached for flavor.

Steaming

  1. 3

    Prepare the Steamer

Fill a pot with about 2 inches of water and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Place a steamer basket or colander over the pot, making sure it does not touch the water.

  2. 4

    Steam the Broccoli

Once the water is boiling, add the broccoli florets to the steamer basket. Cover the pot with a lid and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and tender but still crisp.

Finishing Touches

  1. 5

    Season the Broccoli

Remove the steamed broccoli from the pot and transfer it to a serving dish. Drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.

  2. 6

    Serve

Serve the steamed broccoli warm as a side dish to your main meal.
