Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fries

Peel and cut the potatoes into fry shapes. Rinse them under cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels, season with salt.

  3. 3

    Make the Beer Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cod

Dip the Icelandic cod fillets into the beer batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Carefully place them in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 4-6 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the battered fish with fries and housemade tartar sauce on the side.
