Benne Seed Brioche Ingredients

Method

Benne Seed Brioche Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter. Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Brioche

Punch down the risen dough, then divide it into equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased brioche mold or muffin tin.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped brioche with a damp cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake the Brioche

Sprinkle the benne seeds on top of the brioche and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm.
