Cake and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brown Butter

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Make the Cake Batter

In a large bowl, whisk together the brown butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.

  4. 4

    Bake the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Whipped Cheesecake

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat until smooth. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the whipped cheesecake mixture over the top. Sprinkle the toasted pecans on top and drizzle with caramel sauce.
