Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Begin by ensuring the yellowfin tuna steak is sushi-grade and very fresh. Pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Season the Tuna

Evenly coat the surface of the tuna steak with the blackening seasoning, pressing gently to ensure it adheres.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sear the Tuna

Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat until it's very hot. Place the seasoned tuna steak in the skillet and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until a dark crust forms while the inside remains rare.

Serving

  1. 4

    Slice and Serve

Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute. Using a sharp knife, slice the tuna into thin sashimi pieces. Arrange on a plate, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and drizzle with teriyaki sauce. Serve immediately.
