Grits

Method

Prepare the Grits

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of grits and reduce heat to low. Stir occasionally for about 20-25 minutes until grits are thickened.

  2. 2

    Add Milk and Cheese

Once the grits are cooked, stir in 1 cup of milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese until creamy and well combined. Keep warm.

Cook the Shrimp

  1. 3

    Season the Shrimp

Pat the shrimp dry and season with 2 tablespoons of blackening seasoning, ensuring they are evenly coated.

  2. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and cooked through.

Assemble the Dish

  1. 5

    Plate the Grits

Spoon the cheesy grits into bowls.

  2. 6

    Top with Shrimp and Garnishes

Place the blackened shrimp on top of the grits. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon, sliced green onions, and drizzle with sesame chili oil.
