Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Generously sprinkle both sides of the steak with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Allow it to rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature to enhance the flavor and tenderness.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Pan

In a heavy skillet (preferably cast iron), add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and place it on medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat until it shimmers but is not smoking.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the ribeye steak in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a good sear. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time based on your preferred doneness.

  2. 4

    Add Butter and Herbs (Optional)

If desired, during the last minute of cooking, add 1 tablespoon of butter and a sprig of fresh rosemary to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steak for added flavor.

Resting and Serving

  1. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, transfer the steak to a plate and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Allow it to rest for about 5-10 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute throughout the meat.

  2. 6

    Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve it on a warm plate. Enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak!
