Method

Preparation of Seafood

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Cut the Gulf grouper fillets into small, bite-sized cubes and place them in a large glass or ceramic bowl.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Drain and rinse under cold water, then chop into smaller pieces and add to the bowl with grouper.

Marinating

  1. 3

    Marinate the Seafood

Pour the freshly squeezed lime juice over the seafood in the bowl. Ensure all pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the seafood to 'cook' in the lime juice.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 4

    Add Fresh Vegetables

After 30 minutes, remove the bowl from the refrigerator. Add chopped red onion, diced tomatoes, diced cucumber, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro to the seafood. Gently mix to combine all ingredients.

Seasoning

  1. 5

    Season the Ceviche

Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the ceviche mixture. Adjust seasoning to taste. Mix gently.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Serve the ceviche chilled in individual bowls with a side of tortilla chips for dipping.
