Meatballs and Marinara
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and set them aside.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Marinara Sauce
Add canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil to the skillet with the meatballs. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- 5
Assemble the Sub
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the baguette lengthwise, then place meatballs on the bottom half. Spoon marinara sauce over the meatballs and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 6
Melt the Cheese
Place the sub in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from oven, slice, and serve with your choice of side.
