Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baguette

While the onions are caramelizing, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cut the baguette in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Melt

On the bottom half of the baguette, layer the roast beef, followed by the caramelized onions, shredded white cheddar, and horseradish sauce. Sprinkle fried onion straws on top.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled baguette in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the oven, slice the baguette into portions, and serve warm with your choice of side.
