Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt, then add the elbow macaroni. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 7-8 minutes, until al dente. Once cooked, drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In the same pot, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour. Stir continuously for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is bubbly and lightly golden.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Lower the heat and add the shredded white cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine

  1. 5

    Mix Pasta with Cheese Sauce

Add the drained elbow macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir well to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.
