Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.

  2. 2

    Mash the bananas

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Make sure there are no large chunks.

  3. 3

    Mix wet ingredients

Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix until well combined.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  1. 4

    Combine dry ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

  2. 5

    Combine wet and dry mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Add Optional Ingredients

  1. 6

    Fold in nuts or chocolate

If desired, fold in chopped walnuts or chocolate chips into the batter until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour into loaf pan

Pour the banana bread batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  2. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 9

    Cool and serve

Once baked, allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
