Onion Ring Ingredients

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings, about 1/2 inch wide. Separate the rings and set them aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk together until well mixed. Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring until the batter is smooth and thick.

  3. 3

    Bread the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Then coat the ring in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place the breaded rings on a baking sheet.

  4. 4

    Fry the Onion Rings

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded onion rings in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
