Classic Martini Directions

   Prepare the Glass

   Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water. Set aside while preparing the drink.

   Mix the Ingredients

   In a mixing glass, combine the gin or vodka and dry vermouth. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

   Stir or Shake

   Stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until well chilled. If you prefer a shaken martini, shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.

   Strain and Serve

   Empty the ice water from the chilled martini glass. Strain the mixed drink into the glass.

   Garnish

   Garnish with olives or a lemon twist based on your preference.
