Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mash

Heat 5 gallons of water to around 165°F (74°C). Add 9 lbs of pale malt and 1 lb of caramel malt. Maintain the temperature at 150-155°F (65-68°C) for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Sparging

After mashing, sparge the grains with 170°F (77°C) water to extract the sugars. Collect the wort in your brew kettle.

  3. 3

    Boil the Wort

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add 2 oz of bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes. Add 1 oz of flavor hops during the last 15 minutes of the boil, and 1 oz of aroma hops during the last 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cooling the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the yeast. Seal the fermenter with an airlock and let it ferment for about two weeks at a consistent temperature.

  6. 6

    Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve 3 oz of priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer before bottling. Bottle the beer and cap it.

  7. 7

    Conditioning

Let the bottles condition at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks before refrigerating and serving.
