Method
Preparing the Calamari

Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Mix the Coating
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Coat the Calamari
Toss the calamari rings in the flour mixture until evenly coated.
Cooking the Calamari

Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or a deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Calamari
Fry the coated calamari rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Preparing the Vegetables

Prepare the Artichoke Hearts
If using canned or jarred artichoke hearts, drain and chop them into bite-sized pieces.

Prepare the Green Beans
If using fresh green beans, trim the ends and blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp. If using frozen, simply thaw them.
Serving

Plate the Dish
On a serving platter, arrange the fried calamari, chopped artichoke hearts, and green beans.

Serve with Dipping Sauces
Serve the dish with bowls of spicy aioli and cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
