Method

Beef Brisket

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the mixture all over the beef brisket.

  2. 2

    Sear the Brisket

In a large oven-safe pot, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes per side.

  3. 3

    Add Broth and Cook

Pour the beef broth into the pot. Cover and transfer to the oven. Cook for about 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shredded.

  4. 4

    Shred the Beef

Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Shred the meat with two forks.

Caramelized Onions

  1. 5

    Slice the Onions

While the brisket is cooking, slice the yellow onions thinly.

  2. 6

    Cook the Onions

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.

Avocado Crema

  1. 7

    Prepare the Ingredients

In a blender or food processor, combine the avocados, sour cream, lime juice, garlic, and salt.

  2. 8

    Blend the Crema

Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Salsa Roja

  1. 9

    Prepare Salsa Ingredients

Chop the tomatoes, jalapeño, and garlic. Add them to a blender along with cilantro, lime juice, and salt.

  2. 10

    Blend the Salsa

Blend until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Tacos

  1. 11

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

  2. 12

    Assemble the Tacos

Place shredded brisket, caramelized onions, and avocado crema on each tortilla. Top with salsa roja and fresh cilantro.

  3. 13

    Serve with Lime

Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
