Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and slice them thinly. Peel and chop the local onions finely. Mince the garlic cloves. Cut the ham into small cubes. Grate the cheddar cheese and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they become translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 3

    Cook the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender and browned, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  3. 4

    Add the Ham

Once the mushrooms are cooked, add the diced ham to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until heated through.

  4. 5

    Mash and Combine

Using a potato masher or fork, mash the mushroom and ham mixture gently in the skillet. Stir in the grated cheddar cheese until fully melted and combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Mushroom Mash

Transfer the mushroom mash to a serving bowl. Enjoy it warm as a side dish or a hearty main course!
