Method

For the Hot Pimento Spread

  1. 1

    Prepare the Base

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer or spatula to blend until smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Add Flavorings

Stir in the chopped pimentos, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

  3. 3

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the spread and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt or pepper if desired.

  4. 4

    Garnish

Transfer the spread to a serving bowl and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

For the Pickled Sourdough Toast

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Toast the Sourdough

Brush each slice of sourdough bread lightly with olive oil on both sides. Place the slices on a baking sheet.

  3. 7

    Pickle the Bread

Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the pickle brine onto one side of each slice of bread.

  4. 8

    Bake

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy.

  5. 9

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the toasted sourdough cool slightly before serving.
