Biscuits Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 0.5 teaspoons of baking soda, and 0.5 teaspoons of salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Cut 0.5 cups of cold unsalted butter into small cubes and add to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Pour in 0.75 cups of buttermilk and gently stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing; the dough should be slightly sticky.
- 5
Shape the Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 6
Bake
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.

Prepare the Toppings
While the biscuits are baking, prepare your toppings. Softened butter can be placed in a small bowl, and your choice of jam can be placed in another.
- 8
Serve
Once the biscuits are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with softened butter and jam on the side.
