Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the ground beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into 4 equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the patties

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Once hot, place the patties on the griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until a crust forms, then flip.

  3. 3

    Add cheese

Once flipped, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger is cooked to your desired doneness.

Onion and Toppings Preparation

  1. 4

    Caramelize the onion

Slice the onion thinly. In a separate skillet, add a little olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring frequently, for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.

  2. 5

    Prepare the toppings

While the onions are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce and slice the tomato into thick rounds. Dice the pickles into small pieces.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the buns

Lightly toast the brioche buns on the griddle or in the oven until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce first, followed by the burger patty with melted cheese, a generous scoop of caramelized onions, tomato slices, diced pickles, and a drizzle of animal sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
