Marinara Sauce Preparation

    Heat Olive Oil

    In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.

    Sauté Garlic

    Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

    Add Tomatoes

    Pour in the 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.

    Season the Sauce

    Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the sauce.

    Simmer the Sauce

    Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Finish the Sauce

    Stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh basil right before serving, and adjust seasoning to taste.

Cheese and Assembly

    In a bowl, combine 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and mix well.
