Method
Cheese Preparation
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mozzarella Bites
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella cubes to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 6
Drain and Cool
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried mozzarella bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Marinara Sauce
- 7
Prepare the Marinara
In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- 9
Finish the Sauce
Stir in the fresh basil leaves just before serving. Adjust seasoning to taste.
