Pickles

Method

Pickles

  1. 1

    Prep the Pickles

Drain the sliced dill pickles from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the dry ingredients are evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Then, dredge the pickles in the flour and cornmeal mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickle slices into the hot oil, a few at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.

  3. 6

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.

Spiced Sauce

  1. 7

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, dill pickle juice, garlic powder, paprika, and salt. Stir until smooth and well blended.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles warm with a side of the spiced sauce for dipping.
