Patty Melt Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Onion
Slice the onion into thin rings.
- 2
Cook the Beef Patty
In a skillet over medium-high heat, form the ground beef into two patties. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
- 3
Sauté the Onion
In the same skillet, add a tablespoon of butter and sauté the onion rings until they are translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Assemble the Patty Melt
On two slices of rye bread, place a cooked beef patty, top with sautéed onions, and then add two slices of Swiss cheese. Top with another slice of rye bread.
- 5
Grill the Sandwich
In the skillet, melt another tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Grill the sandwich on both sides until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 6
Serve
Cut the patty melt in half, serve with a dill spear and your choice of French fries, cole slaw, or cottage cheese.
